Poet, prose writer, and playwright Erkin Samandar worked in the literary and dramatic department of television, later working as an editor at a newspaper. He created several poetry collections, works, essays, novels, and songs.
Erkin Samandar was born in 1935 in the village of Navkhos, Khonka district of Khorezm region. After finishing secondary school like his peers, he entered the Khorezm State Pedagogical Institute and graduated in 1957.
Later, he continued his studies at the postgraduate program of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan. He held responsible positions at the newspaper «Xorazm haqiqati» and various institutions in the region.
In the late 70s, he was invited to work in Tashkent and served as the head of the literary and dramatic department of Uzbekistan Television. Later, he returned to Khorezm and worked as an editor for a regional newspaper. Not long after, he returned to Tashkent and served as the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic.
Erkin Samandar entered the sacred courtyard of our literature in the mid-50s.
His first poetry collection was published in 1966 under the title «Amu jilolari». Later, he published more than ten poetry collections such as «Osmon to‘la nur», «Dunyoning yoshligi» (1970), «Sevgi fasllari» (1973), «Vafo degan gavhar» (1975), «Mening yigit vaqtim» (1979), «Qabul soatlari» (1980), «Sohildagi bolalar» (1982), «Saylanma», and «Yurakka yo‘l».
In almost all the works included in these collections, there is a tendency to reveal the roots of deep spirituality: good people, beautiful nature, human love, affection and loyalty, labor and life's worries, regrets and doubts.
His works include: «Frantsiya daftari», «To‘qson daqiqa» (octaves), «Shom qo‘shiqlari», «Bahor fasli, yor vasli», and as a playwright, he created stage works such as «Javohir», «Ajdodlar qilichi», and «Olma pishganda galing».
Erkin Samandar is also the author of numerous journalistic works and essays. His novel «Daryosini yo‘qotgan qirg‘oq» (1989) indicates his development as a mature novelist.
It expresses nature, not only the ecology of the Aral, but most importantly, the poverty and tragedy occurring in the field of spiritual ecology, their roots, and the resolution of their consequences, as well as the struggle between love and ugliness.
